How does gateway flipping work?

PaymentsUpdated on 2026-06-26

Gateway flipping is the automatic failover between acquirers. You set a primary acquirer and a secondary one: if the primary declines or fails, Cloudfy retries the sale on the secondary automatically, with no action needed from the customer. This boosts your approval rate.

How to set it up

In the Checkout Builder, open the Payment tab and set:

  • Primary acquirer — the one that processes sales first.
  • Secondary acquirer — the one that automatically takes over on failure.

Flipping works for both Pix and card: if the first acquirer fails, the transaction goes straight to the second.

For flipping to work, connect and enable the same payment method on both acquirers (primary and secondary).
